Growing up our group would often knock round for one another unannounced it was a fair bet if before you opened the door you could hear the gentle thump of a ball being bounced that it would be Ian waiting behind it. Always an active guy I think he might sometimes have been frustrated that a few of us weren't better athletes when we spent time up at the school kicking a football around or playing cricket. He'd carry on his sporty lifestyle into his 20s but we'd more often spend time together in pubs and clubs from then on. Always a pleasure when he made the trip up to Leeds to visit me at uni and always good to catch up with him back in Yateley. I used to protest at his insistence on going out and getting smashed on Christmas eve, although I always caved in - now I wouldn't have it changed for the world. Dicko was just a really nice guy with everything that entails, I'm going to miss him.
